You Can’t Cure Herpes, But You Can Kill It!

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

I know it sounds like a contradiction to say that herpes can’t be cured but you can kill it. And this is a factual statement despite the seeming contradiction. If you become infected with herpes you have it for life. Usually the first outbreaks are the worst, but after time your body starts building up a defense against the virus and the outbreaks become weaker and less frequent. Many years ago when I became infected it seemed I was having outbreaks one after another, and it took me a while to gain some control over the outbreaks.

Back then, there were no antiviral creams like Acyclovir, and it seemed my doctor were guessing as to what to do. I didn’t get any real help until I went to a dermatologist who knew what it was and knew the latest (though primitive by today’s standards) treatments. I used a prescription mixture of chloroform and alcohol to kill the herpes virus and stop the outbreaks. It worked pretty well but you needed multiple applications and it was a bit harsh since it was a protein solvent.

But herpes can’t be cured. Some of the virus remains and can return to erupt into lesions again. Some people are fortunate and aren’t bothered by the virus again, but for many it does return again and again. The good thing is that today there are antiviral medications that work well. When mine returns I use a nonprescription medication called Dynamiclear that kills the herpes on contact with one application, a scab appears almost instantly and healing begins. Since it destroys the virus outbreaks become fewer and farther between. It works better than anything I’ve tried and I highly recommend it.
