How Does Herpes Spread?

Saturday, January 26th, 2008

Herpes simplex is easily spread when the viral skin lesion appears, but, it is also spread at other times too. People sometimes notice itching, tingling or other sensations before they see anything on their skin. These sensations are called “Prodromal Symptoms” and indicate the virus may be present on the skin. Herpes is most likely to be spread from the time of these prodromal symptoms to the time when the area is completely healed and the skin looks normal again. Contact with the infected area is very risky during this time.

One can also spread the virus from the location of an outbreak to other places on their body by touching their own sores. Fingers, eyes, and other body areas can accidentally become infected in this way.

Preventing self-infection is important. Do not touch the area during an outbreak but if you do, wash your hands as soon as possible with soap and warm water. This will help prevent the virus from spreading further.

The spreading of genital herpes by such things as soap, towels, clothing, bed sheets, toilet seats, and spa surfaces is highly unlikely because the herpes simplex virus cannot live very long outside of the body. Remember, herpes is generally spread by direct contact.

The Diagnosis is Herpes, Do Not Panic!

If you suspect that you have herpes consult your Doctor. Genital herpes is a serious infection and should be diagnosed by a medical professional.

Several tests can be used in diagnosing herpes simplex, some of those tests are more accurate then others. Many people need testing more than once.

When symptoms are present and sores are not healed you can request a specific virus culture or assay for the herpes virus. This test looks for the presence of the virus in the lesion and is very specific, not usually giving a positive result when something other than herpes is at fault.

But the viral culture often misses herpes even when it is there. A patient who has received a negative culture result will be asked to come back again when a new genital lesion appears, even a third or a fourth time.

Blood tests may be used in cases where no symptoms such as lesions are present. A blood test detects the presence of herpes antibodies. There is a possibility that the herpes antibodies will not show up in a blood test, and a positive result does not always indicate that a person has genital herpes. After the first exposure to herpes a person may take several weeks to develop the herpes antibodies, usually it takes two weeks to three months after exposure for antibodies to appear in the blood.

If you have herpes, don’t panic. It isn’t the end of the world. Even though herpes cannot be cured, it can be controlled. Dynamiclear kills herpes on contact when applied to an open herpes skin lesion. The lesion almost immediately forms a scab. Healing has started. This topical solution can cut down on the severity and frequency of outbreaks. To learn more about this answer to controlling herpes visit the Dynamiclear website.

What is herpes simplex virus? Can you kill herpes?

Wednesday, January 9th, 2008

If herpes is incurable, how can you kill it? First, let’s define what a virus is. A virus is a parasite with a non cellular structure composed mainly of nucleic acid within a protein coat. Viruses usually are too small to be seen with the light microscope and must be studied by electron microscopes. At one stage of their life cycle, they are free and infectious. Virus particles do not carry out the functions of living cells, such as respiration and growth; but they can enter into living plant, animal, or bacterial cells and make use of the host cell’s biological properties to replicate themselves.

Herpes Virus

HSV-1 and HSV-2 are members of the Alphaherpesvirus subfamily. HSV-1 (cold sores) can be spread to the genitals via oral sex. HSV-2 (genital herpes) can also be spread to the oral region. In other words, both types can be spread anywhere.

The incidence of HSV-1 is between 50 and 80 percent of the American population in the fifth decade of life. The overall incedence of HSV-1 is dropping a few points per decade in all industrialized countries.

The incidence of HSV-2 in the US is estimated to be between 25 and 30 percent or about one in four adults. According to the American Social Health Association, most infected people don’t know they are infected because their symptoms are mild or mistaken for another condition.

Herpes simplex 1 and 2 viruses are similar in that they are both transmitted by direct contact and can sometimes cause very painful fluid-filled blisters that contain millions of infectious virus particles. After initial infection, these viruses both travel to sensory nerves, where they reside as life-long, latent viruses. When the herpes viruses reactivate to cause the typical symptoms, they travel back along the neural path to their respective skin areas served by these nerves. When the weeping blister symptoms appear, that is when herpes is vulnerable to being killed.

The product I use to kill herpes is Dynamiclear. It doesn’t require a prescription. It doesn’t work like the prescription medications that are referred to as suppressives. It is applied topically to the lesion with a cotton swab just once during the outbreak. Almost instantly a scab forms and healing begins. The Dynamiclear molecule kills the virus so fewer remain to retreat back into the nervous system, thus reducing or eliminating the outbreaks and reducing the severity of the outbreaks if they should reoccur.

How Do Herpes Medications Work?

Go to War with the Virus

Below is a list of herpes prescription medications:

  • Acyclovir
  • Denavir
  • Famciclovir
  • Famvir
  • Penciclovir
  • Valacyclovir
  • Valtrex
  • Zovirax

These drugs are referred to as suppressives. The standard treatment for genital herpes is antiviral therapy, which is usually in a tablet form taken orally. Valtrex, Famvir and Acyclovir, all of these drugs have a similar mode of action and help to stop HSV from replicating inside the body. A virus is made up of a small amount of DNA in a protein capsule. It sneaks into your body’s cells and injects the DNA into the cell’s DNA, making the cell do the work of producing more virus.

These suppressive prescription drugs like Acyclovir stand in front of the cell DNA and block the virus from taking over. They also stop a chemical called viral DNA polymerase. DNA polymerase is needed for the virus to replicate itself.
Acyclovir interferes with the enzymes the virus needs for replication of DNA and prevents the virus from multiplying. It is also incorporated into the virus DNA chain which terminates replication. These drugs only work while you are taking them and cannot prevent future outbreaks once you stop taking them.

Antiviral herpes medications are used in one of 2 ways:
1) To treat outbreaks when and if they happen. This is known as episodic treatment.
2) To prevent or delay recurrent outbreaks by taking antiviral tablets daily. Suppressive therapy is taken continuously for months or even years, and is normally very effective in preventing recurrences.

Oral antiviral medication is only available by prescription and you should consult your doctor for further information about antiviral treatment for your particular situation. These drugs are usually synthetically made and their usage should be strictly monitored.

How long do these drugs take to work? Normally you can expect crusting over and healing of herpes lesions in a few days. If you have chronic herpes outbreaks, you may require acyclovir for long-term therapy.

An Alternative to Prescription Drugs. How Dynamiclear works.

During an outbreak the virus gathers to the surface of the skin. When the virus surfaces, it often creates skin irritation that herpessimplex1.jpgusually develops into a lesion. At this point Dynamiclear is applied to destroy the surfaced virus particles. Dynamiclear is a powerful antibacterial and antiviral antiseptic made from cupric salts and herbal extracts. The herpes virus will retreat into the nervous system making it extremely difficult to eliminate the herpes virus completely. The idea behind the Dynamiclear treatment is to attack the virus each time it surfaces, depleting it with every encounter and reducing the amount of virus retreating back into the nervous system.

Dynamiclear Ingredients

Dynamiclear is a sulfate based solution with copper as a trace metal in an aqueous herbal base. Dynamiclear contains the herb Hypericum perforatum, ammoniated acid in deionised water.

The Dynamiclear molecule has both an acid group and sulfur molecule attached. It is this combined effect that causes Dynamiclear to penetrate through the membrane of the herpes virus, destroying the virus on contact.

Sulfur, one of the main ingredients, is used against infections and is the basis of the modern antibiotics.

Clinical studies have found that Hypericum extract is effective in reducing the frequency and severity of recurrent episodes of herpes labalis (cold sores) and herpes genitalis (genital herpes). Hypericum perforatum has antiviral and antibacterial properties which are beneficial in the treatment of the herpes virus.
