The Downfall of the United States of America?

February 26, 2009 – 8:00 am
Are we witnessing the downfall of the United States of America? As government grabs more and more power and drives us into unimaginable amounts of debt, will the citizens wake up and realize the lessons learned from history, such as the corruption and downfall of the USSR? The government is composed of people who have found a way to gain control over others. They steal money from the citizens and spend it in whatever way their arrogance directs them.

Why the Stimulus (and Bailouts) Won’t Work

February 5, 2009 – 12:06 pm
This is why a "stimulus" doesn't work and has never historically worked: The government doesn't make and sell "widgets". The government doesn't offer a product of value that people buy. Occasionally the government can sell off government owned properties and that is the exception to the rule, but this is rare. Basically, the government takes the money you earn and gives it to someone else. That is their power. It is the power of force, not choice. The Republicans give it to those they like and the Democrats give it to those they like. The best government can do is allow you to keep the money you earn and you spend it how you desire to spend it, not how some faraway politician desires to spend it. A 'stimulus' takes money from you and gives it to someone else. This money is taken from you, your children, your children's children ...

Human Nature and Health Care Plans

October 17, 2008 – 1:26 pm
Found on breitbart.com: HONOLULU (AP) - Hawaii is dropping the only state universal child health care program in the country just seven months after it launched. Gov. Linda Lingle's administration cited budget shortfalls and other available health care options for eliminating funding for the program. A state official said families were dropping private coverage so their children would be eligible for the subsidized plan. "People who were already able to afford health care began to stop paying for it so they could get it for free," said Dr. Kenny Fink, the administrator for Med-QUEST at the Department of Human Services. "I don't believe that was the intent of the program." This begs the question, if we have a choice between our current health care plan at our job or a government plan as suggested by Obama, wouldn't the same scenario occur? People continue to search for that free lunch, but sadly, there is ...

What Lesson is to be Learned From The Bailout?

October 2, 2008 – 4:04 pm
What is the major lesson to be learned from the bailout? What message does this send to our children? Here is the lesson the 700 billion dollar bailout reveals to the world: You don't need to take personal responsibility for your actions. Yes, this is the grand moral lesson of the bailout. No matter how stupidly and recklessly you act, no matter how greedy and thoughtless your actions, there is no need to worry about the consequences of what you have done, someone else will bail you out.

The Bailout is Beyond Wrong

September 29, 2008 – 8:27 am
Newt Gingrich, the former speaker of the House of Representatives says: "Congress was designed by the Founding Fathers to move slowly, precisely to avoid the sudden panic of a one-week solution that becomes a 20-year mess." The bailout plan is "just wrong," and that "it's likely to fail, and it's likely to make the situation worse over time." A transcript of their conversation follows. "...  you have a Goldman Sachs chief of staff to the president and the Goldman Sachs secretary of the Treasury. And they convinced the president that the American people ought to send $700 billion to Wall Street, which I think is a very, very bad idea, and I would argue is a very un-Republican idea. I don't understand what they think they're doing." "... what they're doing is just wrong. And I think that it's likely to fail, and it's likely to make the situation worse over time. And I ...

The New Ethics of WiFi

August 26, 2008 – 1:35 pm
Your neighbor's fruit tree branches over into your yard and drops it's fruit. The fruit has landed on your property and you have a right to eat that fruit. You did not plant the tree or water it, but now the tree is shedding fruit onto YOUR PROPERTY. You have a moral right to eat the fruit. Your neighbors WiFi broadcasts onto your property. The fruit of the internet is there to be picked. You did not leave your property to gain access to the signal, it was brought to you, broadcast into your home, unasked. Any ethical arguments regarding this subject are welcome.

Wifi Ethics And Property. The Wifi Fruit Tree

August 18, 2008 – 11:17 am
A neighbor plants a fruit tree and the branches reach into your yard and drop fruit on your lawn. You gather the fruit from your property and eat it. The neighbor says that you can't eat his fruit. You inform them that this fruit is on your property and you will eat it. If the neighbor doesn't want you to eat his fruit he must trim the branches so they don't reach into your property. Your neighbor's Wifi is like a digital fruit tree.

"IBM said it would work with Canonical/Ubuntu, Novell and Red Hat and a number of hardware partners to deliver in 2009 “Microsoft-free” PCs with Lotus Notes and Symphony. The company said integration between Linux and Microsoft desktops and the proliferation of client computing devices such as the Smartphone would provide the opportunity to finally make a noticeable dent in Microsoft’s stranglehold on the desktop." A Little Information Can Be Frightening

June 19, 2008 – 8:30 pm
I went to have my teeth cleaned. After the cleaning the dental hygenist did a pre-cancer screening. She looked a bit alarmed and warned me that I had red spots in my mouth and that that meant danger. I was alarmend and went to the internet to research the subject and learned about erythroplakia, the red areas or lesions in the mouth. Here is a short exerpt: "Severe epithelial dysplasia is a well-established precancer and has been shown to proceed to malignant transformation in at least one-third of all oral cases and carcinoma in situ is considered by many to already be a cancer, one which has been fortuitously diagnosed during its preinvasive stage. There is no information relative to the length of time an untreated oral carcinoma in situ typically exists before it begins to invade into underlying connective tissues, or the proportion which will actually invade if left untreated. ...
