What is Periodontal disease? It is an infection of the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth. It is a very serious disease that can result in tooth loss, even though it is generally painless, so patients might not even know they have it. According to the American Academy of Periodontology, consequences of this disease may include permanent tooth loss and even a higher risk of stroke and heart attack.

Untreated gingivitis can eventually become periodontitis, causing the gums to separate from the teeth and form pockets (spaces between the teeth and gums). When the bacterial plaque enters into these pockets, the area becomes infected. Although there isn’t much pain associated with gum disease, the consequences of this disease can be just as discomforting, including an unhealthy smile, in which the gums pull back from the teeth, offensive bad breath, gums that become infected and bleed and teeth that become loose, possibly fall out, or have to be removed.

An effective drug used to treat periodontal disease is Arestin, minocycline hydrochloride, in the form of microspheres. A small amount of this powder is placed inside infected periodontal pockets just after the dental professional finishes the scaling and root planing (SRP) procedure.

I have found that using an all natural product called OraMD may be just as effective as an expensive Arestin treatment. For me, giving up conventional toothpaste and mouthwash and using only the natural oils of spearmint, peppermint and almond, the only ingredients in OraMD, have helped me control the chronic infection of gum disease better than anything I have tried. I use this product along with regular dental checkups and cleanings.

I’ve been battling chronic periodontal disease for over 10 years. Believe me, there is a reason they call it chronic! Despite the surgery, despite regular quarterly dental visits for checkups and cleanings, despite the daily oral hygiene routine, it is still a struggle to keep from losing teeth.

The one significant discovery I made in my search for an answer to save my teeth was a very good product called OraMD. This is not something you find at the corner drugstore or in a large commercial chain like Rite Aid, CVS or Walgreens. This is found only on the net, at least that has been my only source for acquiring this all natural product.

Using this product requires a break from the normal routine of using standard toothpaste and alcohol based mouthwash. When you use OraMD, you use only OraMD. The exception to the rule is that you can brush your teeth with baking soda for a more abrasive cleaning, but this must be followed by brushing with OraMD. OraMD will become your new toothpaste and your new mouthwash.

OraMD is made from the essential oils of almonds, spearmint and peppermint and is a very powerful antibiotic against the bacteria living in your mouth. Because it is made from oils, OraMD lingers in the mouth and seeks out the nooks and crannies – the pockets around the teeth – and helps control the infection.

Visit the official website for more information on this product.

Gingivitis is something that should not be ignored. If your gums are bleeding it is time to see a dentist, and soon! Gingivitis can progress into serious chronic periodontal disease and that can mean the loss of your teeth, and even more, this condition may even be linked to heart disease and stroke.

Do you have a personal oral hygiene regime that works for you? If your gums are bleeding then you need to change what you are doing and develop oral hygiene habits that work. I waited too long by ignoring regular dental visits and my bleeding gums developed into chronic periodontal disease. I’ve lost most of my back molars and have difficulty chewing. I now have impeccable oral hygiene but I paid for my lackadaisical attitude in oral hygiene with loss of teeth. The other effect of having chronic periodontal disease is the constant battle with gum infection. Pockets form around the teeth and create a haven for bad bacteria.

Despite having went through the ordeal of periodontal surgery, I still struggle with fighting these low level infections and I have been successful buy developing an oral hygiene plan that works for me.

Here is my oral hygiene regime. I have dental visits and cleanings 3 to 4 times a year. Only the hygienist can clean under the gum line. This is not something you can do yourself. Don’t neglect your dental visits.

I have also given up conventional toothpaste and mouthwash. This may seem strange but there are chemicals in toothpaste that may damage your mouth and decrease saliva. You need saliva for fighting bacteria. Dry mouth is not a good thing. The bad ingredient in toothpaste is called Sodium lauryl Sulfate. Almost all toothpaste contains this chemical.

Mouthwash usually contains alcohol and this is not a good chemical for the delicate tissues in your mouth. There is even some evidence that alcohol is linked to mouth cancer.

I use baking soda to brush my teeth plus a very good product called OraMD. OraMD is an all natural product made from peppermint, spearmint and almond oils and is quite strong. It kills the germs that cause gingivitis and seeps deep into the nooks and crannies of your mouth and lingers there, killing more bacteria.

I also use diluted hydrogen peroxide for mouthwash.

I may try it someday to test out the difference for myself.

I have chronic periodontal disease. It is something that requires constant maintenance in order to hold on to my teeth. One of my greatest health worries is losing all my teeth. I was informed by my dentist that there is no cure for chronic periodontal disease. This means it is truly up to the individual to take as much control as possible over your dental hygiene if you suffer from gum disease on any level - from bleeding gums to gingivitis to chronic periodontal disease. Not only do you need regular cleaning’s three or four times year, you need to develop an advanced oral care plan you can do at home.

I searched for an answer that would control the infection that my dentist said I would always have. I wanted to fight this infection and stop the erosion to the bone around my teeth and stop the gum pockets from deepening. Basically, I want to keep my teeth and avoid expensive implants or dentures. But what was the answer? The dentist suggested injections in my gums of a special antibiotic that lingers in the tissues that would halt the infection for a couple of weeks. This didn’t sound appealing to me. The shots are expensive, painful and would need to be re-administered each month for the rest of my life. This, to me, was out of the question. Who would want to go through that expensive and painful process every month? And there is no guarantee it would work to save my teeth.

I searched for an answer, wondering if there was a more natural way to fight gum disease, something I could do at home to enhance my normal oral hygiene and give me a fighting chance against this oral disease. And I eventually came across a product called OraMD. It sounded good to me. It is an all natural product made from very concentrated oils of spearmint, peppermint and almonds. The company that makes this product claims that it would kill the bacteria in my mouth, enter and linger in the pockets that formed around my teeth to heal the infection, and they offer a money back guarantee. At this point my desperation drove me to try it.

I vowed to follow the program suggested by the maker of this product. It is nothing complicated, just a bit scary at first. Why is it scary? They suggest giving up toothpaste! No more brushing your teeth with toothpaste. You brush your teeth with OraMD. It sounded weird to me. And on top of that they recommend not using mouthwash anymore! You freshen your breath with a few drops of OraMD. I was willing to try anything because nothing else was saving my teeth.

You might wonder why the OraMD people, Trusted Health Products, ask you to give up toothpaste and mouthwash. Toothpaste contains Sodium lauryl Sulfate and they claim that this chemical can damage the tissue in your mouth and interfere with saliva production. The problem with mouthwash is that most contain alcohol which can also damage the tissue in your mouth. And I just read online that some scientists are now linking mouthwash with oral cancer, but this is not proven.

After months of using OraMD I went for my regular dental checkup and cleaning. The verdict of the doctor and dental hygienist was that my mouth looked great. They said to keep doing what I am doing. The chronic periodontal condition was not worsening and was not causing further bone loss. This was good news to me. I found an answer to my problem that works for me. I will continue to go to my dentist for three to four cleanings a year and to keep a check on my oral health while I continue to use OraMD instead of toothpaste and mouthwash.

Economic times have become tough and all of us are effected by the economic downturn. There is no escaping the general loss of wealth and jobs that have so rapidly become the news of the day and the talk around the water cooler at work, that is, if you still have a job.

Some people tend to put off seeing a dentist when economic times are bad, especially if you have lost your dental health insurance. There is some good news if you are seeing a dentist for oral hygiene care in treating gingivitis. There are highly effective nonprescription treatments for bleeding gums and gingivitis that you can use to assist you in your fight to regain good oral hygiene.

I use OraMD, which is a natural, very powerful oral antiseptic that is used as you would toothpaste, mouthwash or a breath freshener. It kills bad bacteria in your mouth and allows the healing to begin. OraMD is made from all natural oils of spearmint, peppermint and almonds. I was truly surprised by how effective it is, since I have chronic periodontal disease and this product works extremely well at controlling the infection. My dental hygienist approves of the use of this product after seeing how effective it is at maintaining oral health.

This nonprescription, all natural product can be an aid to your health in these economically stressful times and save you money in dental health care.

I think the best way to pass on a really good thing is to let people know by word of mouth, or in this case, my personal blog. If you are searching for an alternative answer to bleeding gums or gingivitis, then I am glad you discovered this website, because I was searching for the same thing when I discovered a little item called OraMD.

OraMD comes in a little brown bottle that dispenses one drop at a time of an all natural combination of oils. The oils are spearmint, peppermint and almond and together they fight the bacteria in your mouth. And since this OraMD is made if oils, it flows along your teeth and finds the bacteria that hide in pockets around the teeth and it lingers there to destroy the bacteria.

OraMD comes with a money back guarantee which is a good thing.

I found this important bit of news on the internet:

(Ridgewood, N.J.) Could it be that how we care for our teeth and gums may have implications for the development of chronic disease? “Yes, current research supports it, and our center is taking it very seriously,” says John R. Varoscak, D.D.S., periodontist and head of the nation’s first Oral Systemic Evaluation Center.

The Oral Systemic Evaluation Center is taking an interventional approach to the treatment of periodontal (gum) disease. “Until now, there has not been a dental center with a focused program to evaluate and treat periodontal disease, with the recognition that its presence has a significant effect on one’s overall health and well being,” says Dr. Varoscak. “Our goal is to prevent this condition from progressing, at the expense of good health, particularly for patients at a higher risk for heart disease, diabetes and women considering pregnancy.”

Gum disease my result in more than the loss of your teeth - which is bad enough - it may effect your general health. Many believe it can be a cause of heart disease and strokes.

Bleeding gums during pregnancy is a common occurrence because pregnancy generally worsens any existing gum problems. Hormonal changes during pregnancy can exaggerate the body’s normal response to dental plaque. Increased hormonal activity changes the way the gum tissues react to the bacteria in plaque, resulting in an increased likelihood that a pregnant woman, if her daily oral hygiene isn’t very good, will develop bleeding gums.

The plaque that causes bleeding gums does so by irritating the gums, making them bright red, tender, swollen, sensitive, and bleed readily.

There is a positive side to this problem and that is most cases of bleeding gums during pregnancy can be prevented with proper oral hygiene.

An all natural product called OraMD can help control the bacteria and plaque in your mouth without harsh chemicals or alcohol. This can be a concern during pregnancy. Many women have an increased interest in a healthy, natural lifestyle so they can protect their baby from harmful chemicals. Visit the Trusted Health Products website for more information.
