Zotty refers to a style of teddy bear with an open mouth and possibly turned down paws as if the bear is begging. The first Zotty was made by Steiff in 1951.

The word Zotty is derived from a German term for shaggy, believe it or not.

Chasey has mastered the art of repair on Zotty bears with damaged muzzles. You know the scenario...Fido decides to be playful and bites the nose off poor teddy!

Wow!  This Hermann  teddy bear is feeling like his old self again. It is no easy matter to repair a Zotty muzzle but Chasey has discovered the secret technique.

For you knowledgeable teddy bear fans notice this Zotty doesn't have a chest plate like the Steiff, plus his nose is a bit different than the Steiff nose. - S. C. Beam
