Where does one hide in today's terrible economic climate? In 2009, are we witnessing the downfall of western civilization?

One possible choice, if you are living in California, is to leave the state. California is crumbling apart from stupidity. Find a state with solid leadership that trusts individuals to make their own decisions.

Advice: Get out of California. Save yourself and your family.

It took me awhile before I had the confidence to leave Windows behind, but when the bloated Vista appeared, that cut it for me. No longer would I use Windows.

Linux is free. The programs are free. You essentially have no need to worry about virus infections on your computer. No more defragging or fixing the registry. No slow, bloated OS that crashes and irritates.

If your just coming off Windows, I would suggest Linux Mint, or Ubuntu, which Mint is based on.

Here are a couple of clinks to get your feet wet:

Linux Mint

I love this IP. I don't know how long they will be around but right now it is great. If you need totally free access to the internet, if you need a backup to the internet if your broadband goes down, this service is fantastic.

You give them no information, there is nothing to sign up for, no dialer to download so it works great on Macs and Linux - just find your local phone number and go. This service is just as advertised. Use it.

subject: Can you live cheaply in southern California?
02.03.08 9:43 am
Is it possible to live cheaply in southern California? Yes, but you might not be living a lifestyle comparable to living in, say, Indiana. And it will only get harder to live cheaply in So CA because our California legislators will pick your pockets clean and butt into almost every aspect of your life, stealing your freedoms one at a time. It seems as if all the nosey people in the world moved to California and became legislators. If they could tax you for breathing they would.

Welcome to California. Keep an eye on your billfold and plan to quite smoking.

You are attempting to live an economical lifestyle in your manufactured home and you're always looking for ways to save money. If you have herpes and have spent lots of money on antiviral herpes drugs such as Valtrex, Famvir, and Acyclovir( All of these drugs have a similar mode of action and help to stop HSV from replicating inside the body)try this non-perscription and highly effective alternative, natural Dynamiclear. In clinical trials it actually is more effective for more people than the prescription drugs.

You don't want to be toothless living in a mobile home park in your manufactured home. Trust me on this one. I'm going to save you money on dental bills with something that really works to fight periodontal disease, but you have to be willing to get rid of your mouthwash and toothpaste and use only this stuff,OraMD.

OraMD tackles the problems associated with periodontal disease, gingivitis and receding gums and is also an extremely effective chronic bad breath product. Because the ingredients are natural enemies of bacteria, OraMD cleans your mouth and stops bad breath in it's tracks. Just use a few drops of this stuff instead of toothpaste. It's very powerful stuff. It really works.

I'm going to save you some money if you were thinking of buying Kevin Trudeau's book 'The Weight Loss Cure They Don't Want You to Know About'. In fact, instead of spending $24.95 on his book, I'll tell you a way to loose weight and it won't cost you a dime, in fact, it will save you money!

Here is the website where Kevin Trudeau apparently got his information from: The official oral hCG (Human Choriogonadotropin) and obesity website. The secret substance is hcg found in the urine of pregnant women. Go to this website and save your money.

Now, the secret of weight loss? Eat less and exercise more. You will save money on food and doctor bills. It really isn't a mystery to loose weight, you just need to use a little willpower!

04.30.07 2:21 pm
I received an email from a fellow excited about a special manufactured home offer for California teachers. Here is the press release[I note the release is dated 2006 but I suppose the offer is still good]:

RANCHO MIRAGE (Oct. 31, 2006) -
Acknowledging that California's high cost of housing
impedes the ability of
school districts to attract and retain quality
teachers and school
employees, Rancho Mirage Mobilehome Community today
announces a special "educators' homeownership incentive.

The resort-style manufactured home community offers
six months of free rent
for local school district employees who purchase a new
home at the site.

It is located at 69-975 Frank Sinatra Drive in Rancho
Mirage. For more
information call (760)324-0805, or visit

subject: Polariod 37" LCD TV
09.26.06 2:29 pm
As a professional cheapskate you know I’m a Walmart shopper. I’ve been quite pleased with the stuff I’ve bought at Walmart and my latest purchase is no exception.

I love my new 37”LCD flat screen TV by Polaroid. I can’t stop watching the beautiful HD pictures this slim TV displays. And the hi-tech features of this inexpensive (for an LCD) Polaroid TV compare with any other brand on the market. Stack it up against a Sony and Polaroid may just beat it in picture quality.

And if you live in Southern California, don’t let your TV salesman try and convince you that you need digital cable or satellite for your new HD TV. I’ve discovered lots of free, over - the- airwaves HD broadcasts. In fact, most all my favorite shows are broadcasts in HD.

-CURE CANCER
subject: Learn to cure your cancer cheaply and naturally
06.04.06 3:45 pm
There is a wonderful website called Cancer Tutor. Explore the Cancer Tutor website thoroughly. The information is clear and to the point. The only thing that might be holding you back from curing your cancer is your closed mind. The Cancer Tutor website doesn’t sell anything - all the information is free. You choose your own path to your cure from the information on the site.

Southern California is an expensive place to live, and if you suffer from cancer an alternative treatment program might save your life and your money. Ask yourself this question, would God reserve good health only for those rich enough to afford it? I don’t think so!

subject: Beat high gas prices
04.25.06 12:14 pm
First thing to do is find out if your car really needs to use premium gas. Premium gas is NOT better than regular gas; it just burns slower than regular to avoid damaging an engine that calls for the higher octane rating. If you don't need premium gas don't buy it. Stick with regular.

subject: The Huge Secret to Saving Big Money
01.08.06 10:00 am
You want money left over at the end of the month, something to put away in your bank? Saving money, what a concept! Here is a big secret: STAY AWAY FROM STARBUCKS! Make your coffee at home.

If you're addicted to Starbucks, you're not into the affordable living lifestyle. If you're spending 4 bucks every day on your 'grande' caffinated beverage, that means you're wasting $1460 a year. Pissing it away. And I bet your spending lots more than that at Starbucks.

Break the addiction. Make coffee at home.

-California's Rapid Decline
subject: Save money, don't move to California
11.09.05 2:29 pm
California is a state on the decline. It is more and more expensive to live here and there are fewer and fewer people that can afford to live this California lifestyle. I believe the stats for Orange County show that only 14% of the people here can afford a home. Rent is on the increase. Taxes and debt are on the rise.

The schizophrenic voters that first voted for reforming California's government by electing Arnold Schwarzenegger now voted down important initiatives to give the governor the tools he needed to stave off disaster. And to top it off the voter's approved another school bond that results in increasing taxes and debt while doing nothing for educating children.

If you don't live in California, stay where you are. The grass is not greener here. I survive in California by living in my manufactured home, staying out of debt, shopping at the 99 cent stores and Walmart, never buying a new car, scrounging and hording every cent and dreaming of the day I can get out of here and move to Bullhead City or some other place that is still functioning in the realm of sanity.

-Credit Cards
subject: how to use them
11.03.05 2:18 pm
Want to learn how to use your credit card? Don't. Don't use it to go into debt. If you can't pay it off when you get the first bill, don't use it. If you go into debt for any reason other than buying real estate, then you are living beyond your means.

Clark Howard, the financial guru that once had a radio show [I don't know if he is still on the air or not] used to advise freezing your credit card. I mean actually putting it in some sort of freezable container filled with water and drowning your credit card in it. Place this drowning credit card in your freezer. It makes it harder to use. Right?

subject: Live economically in a Cavco Manufactured Home
10.15.05 1:24 pm

Here is a picture of a new Cavco manufactured home being setup in our mobile home park in Whittier, California. We live on the border of Los Angeles county and Orange County. This home is around $40,000 and the space rent is around $450 a month. It is a comfortable looking home and with combined mortgage and payments would end up being much less in monthly payments than an overpriced apartment in this area. The other good thing is that you own the home, renting an apartment would leave you with nothing if and when you decide to leave.

My wife and I live in a Hallmark home that is a double wide. We needed the extra space, but this Cavco would be very nice for a single person or a couple just starting out. It is wise to consider this as an alternative to renting an apartment.

subject: Living Cheaply in Southern California
09.26.05 8:03 pm

All around me the home prices and rental rates are outrageous. Before we were married, my future wife's rent was about $1300 a month. The apartment complex raised the rents so high that single families could no longer afford to live there. The apartments were not attracting stable and financially sound renters but instead multiple families were cramming themselves into the small apartments. We think that over 30 people were living in one of the apartments! Totally outrageous. The neighborhood continues to disintegrate.

And this isn’t just true of apartments, it is happening in middle class neighborhoods where the average cost of a home is half a million bucks. More and more cars are parked on the suburban streets. From the looks of it you’d think a party was going on. But no, multiple families are buying the homes because single families can’t afford them. And taking out a mortgage can be a dangerous thing if you are not careful. The single family is struggling in sunny Southern California.

Oh, the picture of the sign at the top of this posting? It is the sign on the entrance to the mobile home park where I live.

Affordable lifestyle choices are still available in So Cal. Believe it or not.

subject: Living Cheaply in Southern California
09.26.05 5:04 pm
I've lived most of my life in occasionally sunny, earthquake ridden, Southern California. Most of those years I’ve lived in an old trailer, despite my income level rising or falling.

I dislike going into debt and try to avoid it with all my might, but I’ve recently married and this has changed things. I am now living with my wife in a much classier manufactured home made by Hallmark... but now I have a mortgage.

This blog will teach you how to live in an ever increasingly expensive area called Southern California, particularly the Orange County area. I’ve seen my folks home go up in value from $15,000 to $590,000 with no end in site to the rising costs. How can anyone afford these overpriced homes? How does an average income family live in So Cal? The following blog essays will explore this question.
